| Police Shoot Alleged Domestic Violence Suspect |
| Posted By Criminal Defense Editor |
 |
Although most police officers are loathe to use their weapons, a Los Angeles Police Department officer was forced to not only withdraw his weapon, but fire it last week.
According to the official police records, officers were called to a domestic violence call last Monday. Witnesses reported seeing a young Hispanic man waving a firearm at his own family, prompting several calls being received by 911 operators. When officers arrived on the scene, the man was still standing outside the house, refusing to listen to anyone.
After asking the suspect to put down his weapon several times, officers were forced to shoot him. The shots, unfortunately, were fatal. At this time, neither the suspect's name nor the officers involved have been released to the press.
If you have been charged with a crime such as domestic violence, it is important that you take the time to consider your legal options by meeting with a
criminal defense lawyer in your state of residence.

The woman responsible for slashing Leonardo DiCaprio's face five years ago has finally been sentenced in Los Angeles. Arethra Wilson was at a house party when she slashed the star's face with a glass, an incident that required him to have surgery. She finally pleaded guilty to assault with a deadly weapon, a charge that brought her two years in a state prison.
Wilson, 40, fled back to her home country of Canada after the attack but upon returning to the states earlier this summer was jailed in Los Angeles. Because authorities were debating over how much credit to give her for time already served, Wilson's sentencing was delayed several times.
At this time Freddy Sayegh, her attorney, believes that she will probably serve about six months before likely being exported back to Canada.
