  Cab Driver Not Guilty in Sexual Assault Case

A cab driver in Evanston, Illinois has been found not guilty by a jury in a sexual assault case. The man was arrested last July and charged with kidnapping and sexual assault in relation to a woman who alleged that he assaulted her.

The woman told police that she flagged down Fred Batrony's cab and asked him to drive her to a friend's house. She stated that he instead took her to a secluded area where he sucked her toes, made her rub his nipple and spit in his face. Batrony testified that the woman made up the claims and said that she was angry because he kicked her out of his cab when he became worried that she was so drunk she would throw up.

The jury deliberated for five hours before coming back with a not guilty verdict. As a result of the arrest, Batrony was fired from his job as a cab driver.

  Man Faces Weapons Charge for Stun Gun

A man in Salisbury, Maryland is facing assault and weapons charges for allegedly firing a stun gun at another man who was attempting to break up a fight between neighbors. The first fight started when a man knocked over bicycles outside the apartment building, resulting in neighbors yelling at him which soon escalated into a physical fight.

While the fight was occurring, a third man attempted to pull one of the men away when a flash of blue light defused the fight. Timothy Matthew Parrott is now being charged with possession of a dangerous weapon with intent to injure, first-degree assault and second-degree assault for injuring the other man with a handheld stun gun.

The first-degree assault charge is a felony and carries a maximum penalty of 25 years in prison. Parrott was taken into custody by police and later released on his own recognizance. He reports that he had never used a stun gun before.

  Man Arrested for Drug Possession While Asleep in Car

In Bolingbrook, Illinois, a man was found sleeping in his car with pills in his lap and in possession of other drugs as well. The police arrested the man after finding the pills in his car, as well as 23 small bags of what was believed to be heroin.

Salvatore W. Palaggi has been charged with selling heroin, possession of a controlled substance and possession of a hypodermic. All of these were foung when the officers searched the man's vehicle that he was sleeping in.

Police found Palaggi when they responded to a morning call about a "suspicious vehicle" in the area. Further details about the arrest and court dates are not available at this time.

  Former College Football Player Pleads Guilty to Assault

A former Washington football player has pleaded guilty in the case of the assault of another UW athlete. Defensive end Andru Pulu allegedly assaulted another athlete at an off-campus party this year.

Court documents on the case state that the victim, a UW soccer player, tried to intervene in a verbal argument that Pulu was involved in. Pulu then punched the victim and knocked him unconscious. Reportedly, Pulu then continued to attack the victim, breaking his left cheekbone and left orbital, as well as bruising several ribs.

Originally, Pulu pleaded not guilty to these charges. The sentencing in this case will take place in May. Pulu could receive three to nine months in jail for this assault.

  Officer Arrested for Drug Possession

A Fort Worth, Texas officer was arrested for allegedly possessing marijuana while on duty and in his uniform. Officer Wesley Lamb was arrested as the result of a citizen calling and reporting the man for smoking marijuana while on the job.

The Fort Worth police then launched an investigation that included undercover surveillance. The police found marijuana in Lamb's home and in his car. Reportedly, they also found him in possession of evidence he was supposed to take to the police property room.

  Man Goes to Court for Kidnapping Charges

A 22-year-old man is going to court for his preliminary hearing in regards to the kidnapping charges he faces in Waipahu, Hawaii. Anthony J. Davis is being charged with one count of kidnapping in the case of a five-year -old girl.

The kidnapping matter is alleging that the man grabbed the girl at the Waipahu District Park and attempted to walk away with her. Police are reporting that the girl's brothers and sister managed to pull her away from the man. Bystanders in the area detained the man until police arrived.

  Weapon and Drug Possession Charge in Bartlett, Illinois

A man in Bartlett, Illinois is now facing the following charges: three Class A misdemeanors for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia, unlawful use of a weapon, possession of firearm ammunition without requisite firearm owner's identification card and a Class C misdemeanor for unlawful possession of marijuana.

The police found Jess T. Outlaw in possession of drugs and weapons when they obtained a search warrant for the teenager's residence. At the residence, they found a small amount of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, .32 caliber ammunition and metal knuckles.

Outlaw has since been released on a $1,000 personal recognizance bond. He will be due back in court in Wheaton on May 18, 2010. It is unknown the consequences he could be facing if convicted of the above charges.

  Cattle Scam Results in Guilty Plea

A California cattle salesman has pleaded guilty to theft and forgery charges after being accused of stealing $1.5 million from customers, including actor Kiefer Sutherland. Michael Wayne Carr reportedly had agreements to buy steers in Mexico for his customers and sell them for profit in the United States, but there is no record of him ever buying the animals. Also, it is alleged that the sold steers did not belong to him.

Carr has pleaded guilty to three of twelve counts that included grand theft and forgery. He may be facing as much as seven years in prison as a result of the charges.

Also as part of his sentencing, Carr will be paying restitution to those involved in his cattle scam. He will be ordered to back $956,000 to Sutherland and one of the actor's investing partners. Carr will be sentenced on November 1, 2010.

  Tupac’s Mom Arrested for Drug Possession

Afeni Shakur, who is the mother of late hip-hop artist Tupac Shakur, has been arrested for felony drug possession in Lumberton, North Carolina.   Man Convicted of 10th Domestic Violence Offense

A Monson, Maine man has been convicted of his 10th case of domestic violence. Gary Golden was arrested for a domestic abuse matter that occurred in his hometown last July and then charged and pled guilty to terrorizing and criminal mischief.

As he has had a pattern of domestic violence, he was sentenced to 27 months with the Department of Corrections with all buy 14 months suspended. He will also be placed on probation for two years. He was also sentenced to 60 days for the criminal mischief charge which will be served concurrently with the other sentence.

While the district attorney pushed for a straight jail sentence in this domestic violence matter, the judge felt that it was important that when Golden was released that he would have some probation in an effort to protect any further victims. Ten of Golden's eleven offenses have involved domestic violence involving a partner.
