| Woman Sells Drugs Through Mail |
| Posted By Criminal Defense Editor |
 |
It isn't just a crime to sell narcotic drugs illegally, but also to send them in the mail, a fact that a Florida woman learned the hard way this week. Lynette Coleman, 52, had been mailing narcotic pills to a former boyfriend in New Kensington, just a few at a time. He was then selling them on the streets.
When the value of the pills was added up, federal authorities believed the total to be $100,000. Coleman plead guilty to U.S. District Judge Nora Barry Fischer on Wednesday for her part in the crime.
The offenses took place between November 2007 to June 2008. Fischer and ex-boyfriend Howard Schreckengost were indicted by a jury in May on one count of conspiracy to distribute and possession with intent to distribute oxycodone. The ex-boyfriend is still awaiting his trial.
Schreckengost and Fischer were discovered when one of their packages was intercepted at a post office on June 4, 2008. Inside the package were 490 narcotic pills worth $30 to $40 apiece on the street.
Charged with major drug crimes? Now is the time to consult with a criminal defense lawyer. |
